Such is the history and acclaim that Royal Wellington is held in, it was granted host of the 2017 Asia Pacific Amateur Championship.
Royal Wellington moved to the Heretaunga site in 1908 from Miramar and stayed with that layout until 1972-73.
One of only two “Royal” courses in New Zealand the Heretaunga layout that has been redesigned by Scott McPherson and Greg Turner in 2011, which has enhanced the natural topography of the land. The native bush and undulating greens add to what is a spectacular parkland layout. There are 5 different tee blocks for all levels of ability. Add in the famous Wellington wind and this makes this course a stern test and a must play while in Wellington.
